The Maintenance Difference Was Huge

I stopped topping things off constantly
With mulch, there was always another refresh coming.
With brick, the edge stayed put.
That alone cut down a bunch of seasonal work.
I wasn’t buying, spreading, fluffing, and re-leveling material every year.
Trimming and mowing got easier
This was a huge win.
A solid garden edging line makes mowing cleaner and helps prevent grass from creeping where it shouldn’t.
I could run the mower along the edge more confidently.
And string trimming felt less like surgery and more like a normal yard chore.
Cleanup got simpler
I wasn’t raking loose material back into beds all the time.
That meant fewer little touch-ups after storms, leaf cleanup, or kids cutting across the yard.
For busy households, that adds up fast.
Less mess means fewer “ugh, I’ll deal with it later” moments, and I’ve had plenty of those.
If you’re wondering whether brick also solved my weed issues, I need to be honest.
It helped, but not in the magical way some people think.
Hit the next button below, because the weed control part deserves a reality check.
