What to Do if Only One or Two Stems Are Wilting

Isolate the weak stems
Pull out the droopy stems and inspect them on their own.
This helps you see whether the issue is a blocked stem, an aging bloom, or just a flower getting crowded out.
Crowd control matters
A packed bouquet can limit airflow and make it harder for stems to sit properly in water.
I’ve seen one bent stem throw off an entire arrangement, which is annoyingly dramatic but very real.
Rebalance the arrangement
After you recut and rehydrate the problem stems, place them back where they have room and support.
Sometimes I rotate the fullest blooms to the edges and give the thirstiest stem the center spot where water access is easiest.
Treat selectively when needed
You do not always need to soak every bloom.
If just two heads are drooping, selective soaking saves time and reduces handling damage, and in the next section below I’ll show you the mistakes that accidentally turn a fixable hydrangea bouquet into a compost bin situation.
