Hack #6: Create a Buffer Zone With Mosquito Traps

Think of Traps as a Perimeter Tool
Mosquito trap placement matters a ton. Put traps away from guests, ideally near shady, damp areas where mosquitoes rest, so you pull activity away from the party instead of inviting it closer.
That one tweak alone makes traps way more useful.
Start Before the Event
If you’re dealing with a true backyard mosquito control issue, set traps out well before the event day. They work better as part of ongoing event pest management than as a five-minute emergency fix.
This is especially handy if your yard backs up to trees, water, or dense planting beds.
Know When They’re Worth It
For a one-night BBQ, traps may be optional if you’ve already handled water, fans, and repellent. For a larger wedding, especially with lots of evening guests, they can be a smart extra layer.
I usually recommend them most for homes where mosquitoes are a repeat problem, not a once-a-year annoyance. Hit the next button below, because even the best yard setup can get wrecked if your food station becomes bug central.
