How to Mix the Spray So It Works Better

The right order
First, combine the essential oils with your solubilizer in a small cup. Stir that well before adding it to the bottle.
Then add the witch hazel, aloe, glycerin, and distilled water. Cap and shake until the mixture looks evenly combined.
How to reduce separation
A proper essential oil emulsifier or solubilizer helps keep the formula more even. It won’t always look perfectly clear, but it should spray more consistently.
Without it, the oils can float and collect near the top. Then one spray is weak and the next one is way too strong, which I do not enjoy on my neck.
Why shaking still matters
Even with a helper ingredient, shake before each use. I say this because people skip it, then decide the recipe “doesn’t work” after basically spraying scented water on themselves.
Give it a solid 10-second shake. That tiny habit matters.
Common mixing mistakes
The biggest mistakes are using too much essential oil, skipping the solubilizer, and using a dirty bottle. Another classic error is pouring everything in and hoping for the best.
I mean, you can do that, but the results are usually wonky. Next, hit the next button below, because using the spray the right way is just as important as making it.
