Create a Blue Hydrangea Pitcher Arrangement

Lean into a cottage-meets-coastal palette
A blue hydrangea arrangement has this soft summer energy that makes me weak in the knees. It feels fresh, calming, and just a little nostalgic, like a porch moment with iced tea and no emails.
I like mixing blue hydrangeas with white wildflowers and baby blue eucalyptus for a palette that feels coastal without going full beach-house theme. It’s subtle, which is why it works.
Use a relaxed container
A ceramic pitcher, stoneware jug, or vintage crock keeps the look casual. I’ve learned the hard way that if you put blue hydrangeas in a super formal vase, the whole thing can start looking like a hotel lobby arrangement, and nope.
Pitchers are great because the flowers can lean naturally. That looseness is what gives a cottage garden floral design its charm.
Give it one taller accent
I usually add one taller stem like delphinium or larkspur for height. That vertical line keeps the arrangement from looking like a big puffball sitting in a jug.
This is one of my favorite summer flower arrangement ideas for kitchen counters and entry tables. But if you want something even more giftable and easy to carry, the next bouquet idea is such a good one.
