Cover the Pool Walls With Stylish Cladding

Bare metal or resin walls are usually what make an above ground pool look, well, above ground. Adding pool skirting ideas like horizontal wood slats, composite panels, or stone-look cladding changes that fast.
This is one of my favorite hacks because it gives the pool a custom shell look without the cost of excavation. Pretty satisfying, honestly.
Try horizontal lines for a designer finish
Wood slat pool cladding works especially well if you want a modern, resort-style backyard. Horizontal lines visually stretch the space and feel sleek, not fussy.
If real wood feels like too much upkeep, faux wood composite can give you a similar vibe. That’s often the smarter pick in wet climates.
Match the house and hardscape
Your cladding should connect to something else in the yard, like your deck, fence, or patio furniture. When finishes repeat, the whole space feels cohesive instead of pieced together over five random weekends.
I usually stick with black, driftwood, walnut, or light oak tones. They play nicely with modern backyard design trends and don’t date quickly.
Plan for moisture and access
Leave room for ventilation and access panels so you can still reach equipment when needed. Good design is pretty, sure, but it also has to function when something leaks on a Saturday morning.
Now that the walls are looking high-end, hit the next button below because the way you get into the pool can make it feel even more like a boutique resort.
