Idea #7: Create a Tall Planter Wall

A softer alternative to solid structures
A tall planter privacy screen gives you coverage without making the area feel boxed in.
It’s ideal if you want the equipment hidden but still want a pretty, garden-style backyard.
Plant choices that actually work
I like upright plants with a clean form, especially in long trough-style containers.
Think ornamental grasses, dwarf evergreens, upright rosemary in warm zones, or narrow shrubs that won’t dump tons of debris into the pool area.
If you’re using containers, make sure they’re heavy enough to stay put.
Lightweight plastic planters can look nice, but they can shift, tip, or dry out way too fast in hot summer weather.
Why flexibility matters here
This is one of the easiest ways to change the look later.
You can move pots, swap plants seasonally, or refresh the setup without rebuilding your whole pool equipment screen.
A drip line is a great upgrade if you don’t want to water by hand all summer.
I forget sometimes, and then suddenly my “lush screen” turns into “crispy sadness.”
If you love the natural look and want even more lush coverage, hit the next button below, because the next idea leans into shrubs and grasses in a bigger way.
